Untreated cotton is unsuitable for outdoor use because it is a naturally absorbent fiber, making it susceptible to mold & mildew. (Pillows designed for outdoor use are made from synthetic fibers: acrylic, polyester, nylon, because they are naturally resistant to mildew, water repellant, & have stronger color fastness/resistance to UV sun rays.) If you plan on using this indoor pillow in an outdoor environment, such as a covered porch/patio, do-so at your own risk. Indoor pillows can be treated with 303 Fabric Guard or Scotchgard to make them more resistant to weather damage.
